Description
A microwave dielectric resonator is a piece of dielectric (non-conducting but polarizable) material, usually ceramic, in which microwaves are confined inside the resonator material and bounce back and forth between the two sides due to a sudden change in the dielectric constant of the surface. At certain frequencies, resonant frequencies, microwaves form standing waves. In a resonator, it oscillates with a large amplitude. Dielectric resonators typically consist of ceramic "disks" with a large dielectric constant and low dissipation factor. The resonant frequency is determined by the overall physical size of the resonator and the dielectric constant of the material. A microwave dielectric resonator is a piece of dielectric (non-conducting but polarizable) material, usually ceramic, in which microwaves are confined inside the resonator material and bounce back and forth between the two sides due to a sudden change in the dielectric constant of the surface. At certain frequencies, resonant frequencies, microwaves form standing waves. In a resonator, it oscillates with a large amplitude. Dielectric resonators typically consist of ceramic "disks" with a large dielectric constant and low dissipation factor. The resonant frequency is determined by the overall physical size of the resonator and the dielectric constant of the material.
